MobileMY™ – Atlantic Metro’s Latest Innovation

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009

A common problem today’s IT Managers are being faced with is an effective means of managing their IT Infrastructure. Without any means of administering equipment remotely, or even from your favorite mobile device, IT Managers are forced to endure a lot of wasted time and efficiency interacting with either their internal field support team, or their data center technicians. In times of crisis or downtime, your customers or colleagues are forced to suffer while you communicate the actions necessary to restore service to whomever is on-site. This can result in a waste of time, both personal and company, but more so a waste of the precious uptime you strive so much to maintain.

Atlantic Metro has been a leader on the IT Infrastructure management front for some time with our very detailed and expansive ‘Device Manager’ section in our customer portal. This section has the capabilities to keep track of a majority of the critical details of your IT Infrastructure. This system allows you to track the geographic specifics of devices such as device name, data center address, suite, cage, rack, and rack unit. It can also track more device level details such as CPU, Memory, and Hard Drive Information/Quantity and statistics, bandwidth usage and managed power strip port assignments. In my opinion, the most beneficial side affect of this system is the ability to individually, and immediately, power on/off or reboot any device. While we’re not a big fan of blindly rebooting systems without investigation, sometimes its really the thing that needs to be done — especially while your colleagues are unavailable and you’re stuck at that sporting event with nothing more than your mobile device.

Problem solved. Just another way Atlantic Metro is carving our path in the saturated market and setting us apart from the crowd.

Introducing the Atlantic Metro’s latest innovation: MobileMY™

We’ve recently added a mobile version of this system which will allow Atlantic Metro customers access to a certain subset of the features. From this interface, you can determine the physical location of the devices bound to your Atlantic Metro account, and reboot any device. Future features include real-time bandwidth utilization graphs, real-time server CPU, Memory and Disk utilization statistics and graphs, real-time network monitoring status (PING/TCP/UDP/Custom Scripts). We’re working on it!

Currently tested on Blackberry Curve, Storm, Bold, Pearl and iPhone/iPod Touch. The system was designed to be compliant with all html browsers.

Current customers can access MobileMY™ by going to https://my.atlanticmetro.net/m on any internet enabled mobile device, the user name as password is the same as the one used to login to the main customer portal.

Why we do the things we do?

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

It’s a glorious Thursday morning in New York. As of late, the Atlantic Metro staff has been working diligently through the night for the past few days in hope of completing the refinements on our next big thing. We’ve had a stellar November, sales and operations wise, closing nearly all leads while preserving 100% network uptime and completing a build strategy to enter the Chicago market. I suppose we fit right in with the mantra of our home city, New York, “The city that never sleeps”. Taking a step back and looking at what we’ve accomplished thus far at Atlantic Metro, a question comes to mind: Why do we do the things we do? Well in my humble opinion, it’s not for the money, entirely, we have to live after all, but more about being a part of something and doing all you can to make it great. We hope all of our viewers out there have just as great a December as we had for November, and send our best wishes for the impending month-o-holidays.

And P.S. : Stay tuned for additional details about that next big thing I mentioned in the coming month.

Cheers,

James – CTO @ AMC
